Breastfeeding and latching on
Is latching on supposed to be painful? I'm having problems with sore nipples and the latching on is soooo painful for me... so I'm wondering if the problem is the latch on or if it is painful for everyone (my sister told me that she felt the same at the beggining, like the first month). TIA

It was a little painful for me in the begining but you will get use to it after a while, I dont feel any pain at all now. Just make sure your baby is latching on right at each feeding!

Re: Breastfeeding and latching on
its not suppossed to be painful but at first your nipples may be sore because they are not used to it but you may not have a proper latch if the pain persits- make sure the baby's mouth is entirely around the areola with the nose touching the breast, when the baby is done and you nipple looks flat and you get a sore on it you will know its not right. Did they check your latch in the hospital? Because the first day I got a bad sore because I had an incorecct latch and the Lc came to see me in the hospital and she fixed it and I never got to much soreness afterwards just had to wait until the intial sore healed.

I know it was a little sore until I got used to it but you could have a latching on issue. If latching on isn't the problem it shoul go away.

Re: Breastfeeding and latching on
Yes marissa, that's my problem. Is the first 30 seconds that are so painful. At the beggining was the entire time. Now it's just at the beggining. In the hospital they thought that he was latching ok and was just a case to getting used to it, but now those first 30 seconds are the problem.
