Breast milk... The chart???
Does anyone have that chart that shows how long breast milk last for when frozen, defrosted, fridge, and room temp?

Ha! I went by the rule of 4s! 4 hours on the counter, 4 days in the fridge and 4 months in the freezer!
That's what we were taught in our breastfeeding class.

Re: Breast milk... The chart???
I was taught 4s as well I went by that in the beginning and soon learned that my BM lasts much longer than that. I've actually never had spoiled bm (i've had it out longer than 6 hours).

Re: Breast milk... The chart???
I was told by an LC the 7 rule - 7 hours, 7 days, 7 months.
And defrosted - 24 hours in the fridge.

Re: Breast milk... The chart???
I think the bottom line is you'll get to know your BM and as long as you smell test it, you'll figure out how long you can keep it out. I've only smelled rancid BM once, when I forgot about an empty bottle in the diaper bag overnight.

Re: Breast milk... The chart???
I def went up to a week in fridge and 10 mo in freezer
With no issues!!
But used within 24 hrs after defrosted
And about 4 hours on the counter if freshly pumped

This thread is so helpful! I've been wondering what the 'rules" are and it's interesting to see how different everyone operates!
