Breast milk for ear infection / ear ache?

Has anyone used BM in baby's ear ? My DS has an ear infection again, it's not "that bad" so our PED wants to wait before giving antibiotics since he was just on it last month for 10 days.
Anyway, I was talking to a friend of mine in Finland , she said that most drs in the country do not prescribe antibiotics for kids under 1 unless absolutely necessary, they try other more natural/homeopathic remedies first , one of them is breast milk for BF babies. My friend EBF and said her DS who is 8 mo has had an ear infection few times already and each time her ped told her to just put few drops of BM in baby's ear few times a day and see what happens, according to my friend it worked every time. She also uses BM when her baby has a cold and is congested.
Then my sister whose DH is is Greek also said to try it beacuse that's what her DH's sisters do a lot when their kids are sick (my sister doesn't have kids of her own yet) they use BM for ear infections/aches as well as congestion , they are very much into natural remedies and alternative medicine.
I'm still not sure . Wondering if anyone has done this and what was the result?

I have never, ever heard this. I'd be scared to put any liquid in a baby's ear without a doctor's approval.

I did use BM on my babies when they would scratch their faces. Pediatrician told me to wipe a lil BM on the scratches and I swear it worked like a charm!

I've heard of this. I've also heard of some putting bm in a babies nostril. I haven't tried it yet since DD has yet to have a ear infection. I've used bm for a diaper rash and it works pretty good.

my ped told me to put a few drops (like 2-3) of olive oil in my kids' ears when we thought there might be some pain. Since it is viscous it is supposed to neutralize some of the pressure against the ear... not sure if it worked, as it wasn't an ear infection at all, but we didn't see any negative effects

if it is the beginning of an inner ear infection (which most likely it is), then NO eardrops would be indicated for that because the infection is on the inner side of the tympanic menbrane, and drops do not get through that. oral antibiotics if the ear infection progresses would be indicated. if it is an outer ear infection (skin infection of the ear canal, which your doctor would clearly see), then drops would work. I have never heard of breastmilk, and don't think i would try that, just incase for some reason the tympanic membrane ruptures, i don't think BM getting into the inner ear would be a good thing. JMO and hope this helped.

Heard of this and tried it. BM is antimicrobial and will actually help fight infections. Use a dropper and let a few drops into the ear. It works on pinkeye and bug bites too!

In the ears in the nose, in the eyes. BM is amazing stuff. We used it on my premies eyes before one of them was out of the nicu and it cleared up a clogged tear duct. One of the twins had an ear ache and in the ear it went, clear in a day. If the nose is stuffy BM helps clear things up. It is also great on skin!
