Breast feeding ?
Sorry for all the breast feeding questions but it's been awhile since my last and DD 3 is completely different . DD3 is 2.5 weeks old and SO far exclusively breast fed . I'm trying my best here but there are days I just want to throw in the towel !!!!! Anyway, She spits up a lot !!! A lot !!!! So I decided to try just feeding her from one breast at a time and see if that made a difference She definitely spit up less but ate a little more frequently!! Is this ok ??? Am I messing up my supply ? Is there any negatives to this ? TIA

Breast feeding ?
I always offer both but I know plenty of lactation consultants recommend only one side at a feeding. It keeps the balance of hindmilk and fore milk better.

This is what I had to end up doing. My supply has kept up great, still 8 months later.
ETA: My dd never drank much. She never had more than 4 ounces at a time, even as she got older. So don't worry if she eats small amounts each time. My dd has been her perfect average weight since she was born and now she eats food like it's going out of style.

Breast feeding ?
Maybe when she comes off, burp her and see if she'll latch back on the same side again. This is what the hospital lc suggested with dd2 when I had an oversupply.

Re: Breast feeding ?
I only do one side at each feeding. I tried to switch but she was having bright green poops and I think she wasn't getting enough hindmilk so I decided to keep her on one boob longer. No supply issues so far and her poop is normal again. But she does spit up a lot too- like I feel like it's too much but it never bothers her, she's always satisfied, peeing/pooping regularly, and growing like a weed so my pediatrician isn't concerned. I try to stop her to burp her and then keep her upright once she's finished eating but sometimes she'll spit up right in the middle of a feed. Now I just stick a bib or burp cloth under her head so my nursing pillow (and clothes and bed and her clothes) don't get soaked and gross.

Re: Breast feeding ?
Sometimes spit ups are a sign for a food intolerance but ur lo is too young for that, that usually happens around 1 to 1 1/2 months old.
How is ur "let down"? Sometimes when a mom has a strong let down, babies get full quickly and because there's a lot of milk in their bellies, they have spit ups.
I've also heard in my LL meetings, that not having a good latch can be a reason for spit ups. Is there a LC in ur pediatrician's office that can take a look at ur lo's latch?
I gotta say though if she's not having any other symptom and have a good amount of wet diapers, I wouldn't worry too much.
Regarding feeding her 1 breast at a time, it's a good idea in the sense that she'll def get the hindmilk. Just make sure to offer the other breast next time she nurses. I wouldn't worry about compromising ur supply right now because since she's so young, I'm pretty sure she's nursing constantly right? Like every 2, 3 hrs? That's good for the body to determine what ur supply should be, which won't really be official for a few more weeks.

Breast feeding ?
At this point, their digestive systems are still immature. My DS spit up so much for the first 6+ months of his life (he was like a fountain). He was gaining weight so his dr was not concerned. Just be diligent about burping your DC.

Re: Breast feeding ?
Thank you so much everyone ! I have been doing the one side at a time, holding her upright for longer and just trying to read her cues better The spit up has been less so far I'm going to keep trying and just see what happens She also has seemed to take a liking to the pacifier a little more which helps cut down on using me as a pacifier every 45 minutes for hours on end Hopefully was have a small break through here !!!
