Re: Breast feeding ?

i used fenugreek tea to help increase my supply

DD also had latch issues (wasnt getting on right, and tmi, i was cracked and bleeding, bfing was so painful) - i got
nipple sheilds and they helped - she bf like a champ. i used them until about 3 months old (i probably could have stopped sooner but the thought of that pain again made me wait) and she continued to bf without them until 7 months

Your supply at this time is about supply and demand. Contact a lactation consultant to help with her latch.

I would definitely try to see a LC. Your baby is the most efficient at removing milk, which is what increases your supply. Definitely try to fix the latch as soon as possible to create good habits. The first few weeks are rough and getting a newborn to latch can take time and be so stressful! Hang in there

I also want to suggest a nipple shield. The LC in the hospital gave me one and showed me how to use it. I successfully used it for about 4-5 wks and then one day I just tried nursing without it and DD latched on with no problem. The more she nursed the more milk I produced. As PP said its all about supply and demand. Just keep putting LO on the boob and avoid giving a bottle until BF is well established. Keep at it! It can be stressful, but if its important to you, you can do it!

My LC helped DD with latching. If it continues to be a problem, pump every couple of hours. It took about three weeks for my supply to really improve.

Check with your insurance company too. Sometimes your LC is covered. I have up to 500 free LC services.

The shield also helps. My nipples were RAW for almost 4 full weeks before they started to improve.
