Braxton Hicks........

What do they feel like?

How long do they last?

Does your stomach get hard?

I THINK I might be having BH but I'm not sure. It started last night... i'd get a pain in my stomach... almost like a stomach ache pain and then my stomach would get hard. It's been going on since the middle of the night. I'm going to take a shower and call the dr to ask.... but I wanted to see if that's what this might be here as well.

At times I think i'm nuts because I'm fine... and then it happens and eventually goes away and I'm fine again.

I felt lil girl move last night before it started. And I felt her move early this morning a little bit.

Re: Braxton Hicks........

What you're describing sounds like BH.

You can feel the tightening in your belly and when you touch it, the stomach is hard. Then it eventually subsides.

Real contractions don't lessen like that - they would get more intense and frequent.

As I've gotten further along, my BH have become more frequent and started as just a bit uncomfortable to becoming downright painful.

at the risk of sounding dumb..... i need to ask because I got nervous about this... the baby is safe then right? haha. i know i sound dumb but the tightening of the muscles just seems constricting for the baby and I get worried easily.

the tightening seems to last a little while. eventually i think it subsides. but my stomach seems to be hard the majority of the time.
the pain isn't super intense.. it feels like a stomach ache or MAJOR gas... but I know it's not gas because my stomach doesn't get hard with gas (ever in my life).

The baby is just fine! Don't worry. It's your uterus preparing for child birth and the contractions are totally normal.

There is still plenty of cushion in there for the baby and they are not getting beaten up at all or anything.

The contractions started as just slightly uncomfortably and gassy feeling when I started gettin them around 28-30 wks.

At almost 37 weeks they are much more intense, but they always subside. As you get further along, they will likely get a little more frequent and the intensity will also up little by little. My docs have told me it's nothing to be concerned about.

I agree with everyone.
The only thing I want to add is that if you are dehydrated, you can get braxton hicks also. Make sure you drink plenty of water!

Re: Braxton Hicks........

What you describe sounds exactly like what I've been having. Just got back from my weekly OB appt, and she agreed that they're BH.

Re: Braxton Hicks........

Yes, my lower stomach gets hard...they don't hurt. I find that I get them when I'm lying on my back in bed before I fall asleep. My OB said they're nothing to worry about.
