braxton hicks
How long do these braxton hicks contractions typically last for?

Re: braxton hicks
well, they usually only last a minute or so. but they start around the late second trimester and they get stronger towards the end of your pregnancy.

Re: braxton hicks
oh, ok. Im in the 3rd trimester and this friday i had them exactly 2 minutes apart about a minute long and they were consistant for exactly 2 hours! Wasn't sure how "normal" that was for braxton hicks.

Re: braxton hicks
well, remember that BH are the body's way of preparing for labor.
It's a good thing that you timed them. If you got up or moved around, did they continue or go away?
I would be sure to mention this to your doctor. you just never know.

Re: braxton hicks
Mine seem to last like 30 seconds or so. I get this tightening and then it goes away.

Re: braxton hicks
I've read they last 15 - 45 seconds but only a few times a day.
Here is some info on them from American Pregnancy Association

Re: braxton hicks
My braxton hicks will go on and on like clockwork for several hours (even up to four); and they will be several minutes apart.

You may not ever get them. I never had a braxton-hicks contraction with my DS. But with my DD, I've been getting them all the time for several months now (I'm 37 weeks). They are not supposed to be painful, but mine are, combined with a tightening feeling.
Everyone is different.
