Boy's sleepover
My DS is going to be 9 soon. We told him he can have his best friends over for a small party and a few can sleepover. He has slept at his close friend's before and his best friend recently had him and 2 other friends go to IPlay America (big indoor amusement park by us) and then Hibachi and then they went back to the house for dessert and all crashed after a movie.
We are having a few friends over Memorial Day weekend. WE figured if it's nice we'll let the boys swim take them to Hibachi and come back to the house for smores, cake, etc and more night swimming if they want and a movie before they crash in the basement. Any other fun ideas? We have lazer tag that they love and Kan Jam. All his friends are into sports so between basketball, soccer, other games, swimming, etc we figured that was perfect. Figured I'd ask if there is other ideas. I know his friends who are girls are having sleepover and the things my friends are finding on Pintrist is crazy. LOL! They do makeup, etc. I feel like this is easier, but maybe I should get more ideas. Thanks
The next day we'll make choc filled pancakes for the boys and after they leave he's seeing Solo with family friends and they're coming over and then Monday the family will come over to celebrate. It'll be fun and exhausting weekend. LOL

You could get an inflatable movie screen and do an outdoor movie. We do that every Summer and the kids really like it. I set up a concession stand, string some lights, etc.

Re: Boy's sleepover
whatever happened to letting the kids just play and use their imagination to figure stuff out? From what you described, you already have a ton of stuff they could do and it sounds like they'll be plenty busy.
why does there have to be so many structured activities and pinterest crap for a kids sleepover?? (not directed towards you OP, just in general)

ITA! I usually don't go nuts and the boys will most likely play with what we have like the sports stuff, pool, the lazer tag, etc. I just wanted to get ideas for little breaks like the smores, going out to eat, etc. For the most part they'll entertain themselves, but these boys need breaks or something will break. LOL!
ETA - I brought it up bc the moms of some girls have these ideas like... makeup, doing their hair, etc. Obviously not at DS's party, but figured if there was other stuff

Those fun little activities make the experience much more fun for the kids. I have a lot of kids parties, and they all have a great time. I also have a lot of playdates where they just run around and do nothing, and I think they prefer the fun activities more.

I think it depends on the kids. DS and his friends usually enjoy figuring things out on their own. At DS's 15th b-day, he had things planned out, with a bunch of things to do, but all of his friends decided to go through our stack of cardboard boxes and make cardboard armor and swords and play in the yard...
His friends have always been that way. No matter what was planned, they usually went and did something else.

I think it sounds awesome! It's not like you're planning every minute of the party, just giving them options for things to do... to keep them out of trouble. They are KIDS after all.
If they like those games- ladderball is another good one!

i think it sounds like a fun-filled weekend.
at that age, DS loved just hanging out. then again, my kid is very low key.
if i lived closer, i might come over and crash the party... especially for breakfast and chocolate filled pancakes!!

Re: Boy's sleepover
I think you have plenty of activities. Just with the pool, movie, dinner, etc, sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe get water guns?
When DS turned 12 he had a sleepover, the kids came and they were playing with nerf guns. Then they had pizza and dessert and we took them to a 'escape the room'. Back here they watched a movie and it was time to go to sleep. It actually went pretty fast.
I hear you about girls. A friend gets nail polish, masks, individual mirrors, etc, to simulate a spa at home.

It’s so easy. Literally make your regular bisquick pancake mix but the night before take spoonfuls of Nutella and put them on parchment paper then freeze. When you make the pancakes next morning drop the Nutella on the pancake on the stove and then cover it up with the rest of the mix. So good!
