Boy name help
Contemplating boy names and we love the name Jack. My brother in law has donated sperm for us and his name is John. We wanted to use John as a middle name to honor him. Is it bad to name kid Jack John
I know some will say naming him Jack is after him but I don't feel that way

Re: Boy name help
I think its fine. Not alot of people use the middle name in everyday conversation. Ever consider Jackson John? Flows a little better. But eith way. I think its nice

Re: Boy name help
Jack is a nickname for John so I think its odd to call him Jack John. I also don't care for the way it sounds personally.

I absolutely think you can name him Jack John. To honor him for his part in the child's life is very kind & important.

I was thinking this too. I worked with a man named John who went by Jack. Jack is a derivative of John.

Boy name help
I would def think that Jack John sounds silly. Jackson John is much better. It's kind of like a girl named Jane Joan or something. A little worse even. Sorry.

ITA! I love middle names with meaning. It's not as if you'll be calling him by both names regularly. Most people don't ever even know other people's middle names, but the people closest will understand and appreciate the meaning behind it.

Re: Boy name help
I like the idea of Jackson John but I know what you mean by wanting to name him what you call him. The middle name is another good tribute or maybe let your brother in law give a middle name?
I just want to say that is really special of your brother in law.

Re: Boy name help
jack is a nickname for John. To me it would be very unusual. If I heard the combo IRL, I would probably tell many about it.
Just being honest.

I also think Jack is the same as John (a family friend of ours named John was nick named Jack) but if you like the name then go with it!

Re: Boy name help
I you don't often say middle names but even still, I don't really like the way Jack John sounds, it doesn't flow well. (and they are basically the same name too!)
Since you like Jack and your BIL's name is John why not just use the "J" in Jack as your way of honoring him?

Re: Boy name help
Your child, your name! Pick whatever you like! John Jack doesn't bother me. People will probably call him JJ.
