Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
I have a 2 yr old ds and just found out we are having a girl in July. The kids will have to share a room for the time being. Does anyone have boys and girls that share? How does that work out for you? I feel like as little kids it will be ok but will definitely have to move them as they get older.

Re: Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
My son and daughter shared a room from when ds was two until he was about to turn seven. We had been looking for a house for the past three years. Now they each have their own bedrooms. My kids were fine sharing, and we would have them change separately starting when ds was about five for privacy reasons. Can you make due, yes. But for us we felt that since they were boy girl siblings we had to move. Ironically, after we moved they still wanted to share, but we said no.

We have the space in our house for them to have their own rooms but that requires renovation that at the moment is not possible. I'm hoping by the time ds is in elementary school I can have them in their own rooms

Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
We have b/g twins who share a room. They're babies right now so sharing just makes things a lot easier. I figured that we'd move them to their own rooms at around 3yo. I would think that getting them into separate rooms by 5 would be ideal, but that's not based on anything in particular.

Mine are 3 & 4.5 and share a room.
We tried to split them (our babysitter thought it was crazy that they shared a room), but they hated it & couldn't sleep.
I don't think there is anything weird about it in the least. I wouldn't do it if they hit puberty... but for the time-being, THEY prefer it!
If you watch Peter pan: that is the set up: all kids in a "nursery".

Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
My niece and nephew have always shared a room. My niece is now 7.5 and my nephew is 4.5. It's never been an issue, b7t I do imagine that it could be in a few more years.

I agree, I don't think it becomes an issue until puberty starts to set in, which can be different for everyone, for example, I started hitting it around 8/9, had a full blown period by the time I turned 10, so if I were to put an age on it, 8/9 would be the age I would try to split them up by.

Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
DD is 6 and DS is 4. We have an extra room which is their play room but they love to be together. They are inseparable. We don't plan on changing their room anytime soon, unless they ask or as a PP stated, around 8 or 9. They are best friends now and really want to stay together. I am not rushing it.

Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
I have a 2 yr old DD and about to give birth to a son so I in the same boat. Cant afford a costly reno and dont want to move. DS will sleep in our room for awhile. They will share for a while but we end up coming up withthe idea that we will convert our garage to a bedroom. I honestly dont think sharing is the worst thing in the world. People have lived in worse situations.

My 3.5 year old DD and 11 month old DS share. So far so good! I have a castle theme going on. He has dragons and knights, she has princesses and they each have their own castle wall decal. I plan to have them share until my Dd gets too old to be sharing a room with her little bro! I never shared a room with a sibling, but always wished I had. My little brother would frequently sleep-over in my room when we were little. I want them to be close.

My 5.5 yo DD and almost 3 yo DS share a room. I prefer it that way. I love listening to them talk when they're falling asleep. I plan on keeping them in the same room for a while.

Thanks everyone.... I'm am only child so never had to share. I just don't want ds to feel that the baby is taking over his room.

Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
My b/g 4 year old twins and my 2 year old DS all share a room. We will separate them after the summer but only for space wise. They all love sharing a room and it is going to be a hard adjustment for all of them.

Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
My kids were going to share no matter what--I happened to have a 2nd DD so it's easier but regardless of gender they would've shared for at least 4-5 years. We have a cape and don't want them upstairs alone until older.

Re: Boy and girl sharing a bedroom
I shared a room with my brother for several years, and it was fine. I know of other b/g sibs who share and love it. The little girl even climbs into her big brother's bed with him, to be closer to him. I don't think it is a problem when they are young.
