Books on display

I like a home with a bookcase (or two.)

Those of you that keep a bookcase, what kinds of books do you keep?

Favorite paperbacks? Hardcovers?

Coffee table style books? Old textbooks?

Are they older? (Maybe some favorite childhood books?) Ones you are yet to read?

Tell me!

Thanks.

Re: Books on display

DH and I are both teachers, so I grouped a lot of his "professional books" together, and I do the same with mine. I just like how it looks and it's easier when we need them cause we do a lot of work at home. My professional books also include a lot of kids' books; those are mixed in.

I also put all our travel-related books together, all my chick-lit together, all our crime novels together, the Harry Potters, etc. All our small mass-market paperbacks are together, as are the bigger trade paperbacks that don't fit the other categories. Then there are a few shelves of random books that don't fit any category, and those I organized onto shelves by size.

We have A LOT of books and four bookshelves- two ladder style in the den, a wide one in the LR and a narrow one in the LR. Chat Icon

ETA: I have stack next to my nightable of stuff I haven't read yet. If they were on the shelves I'd forget I had them.

We have a bookcase filled with the history religious and political books DH has read, my favorite books I've read (the non-fiction ones & a handful of fictional ones). Almost all of our books are hardcover.

Bottom shelf is the kids books that they pick out for bedtime stories.
