BM vs. formula

This may be a touchy subject, but does anybody know what the caloric difference is between BM and formula? I have to start giving DD formula and I don't want her to start gaining weight more quickly than she has been on BM. If she had been on formula all along, I wouldn't even be concerned, but now that I am adding it, I just don't know how she'll do.

Also, I couldn't find Lactose-free formula in the powder. Just the concentrate or RTF. And the doc gave me samples of Alimentum in RTF. I think the consistency of BM is closer to the powder, right? Will I have a problem switching her back and forth between the BM and the RTF or the BM and the concentrate?

honestly...I don't think as infants calories or any of that make a difference. They need all they can get to grow and develop their bodies and minds.

Does the lactose-free formula come in a powder?

There is a caloric difference between BM and formula.
Most formulas are about 20 calories per ounce
BM calories very from anywhere from 10-30 calories per ounce (as per my LC)
BM is digested much quicker than formula so she may not eat as often on formula but I would worry about her gaining weight. I'm sure you're doctor will say something if it's a problem. I think sooner or later all babies even out and most important right now is for her to get adequate fluid intake and nutrition.
We switched from BM to powder to RTF to powder to BM. Never had any problems.
