but what exactly is blu-ray and what makes it different or better than DVD's?

Mike is obsessed. It has better picture quality he says. A tv is a tv to me...

He tried telling me that spending 400.00 on PS3 was worth it cause you can play games and watch blu ray movies.

They are more $$$ too. 29.99 per DVD

My DH is totally into that kind of stuff and wanted me to get him one until he found out that the there is no standard blu-ray technology. He is now waiting to see which of the 3 different types wins out (kind of like the old beta vs VHS battle years ago).

There's still the Blu-Ray versus HD-DVD format war going on. Some movies are only on Blu-Ray, some are only on HD-DVD. Some players can read both, but they usually cost more than one of each type....

The HD disks store a lot more data, so you can have a lot more info on the disks.

I'm waiting until there is a winner in the war. I don't want to get stuck with the losing format....
