Bloodwork

Hi all -
I have a question for you guys. A couple weeks ago, i got all my bloodwork levels done (8 vials) since I just started infertility treatment. I also got my hsg done which was AOK. I called my RE to see if my bloodwork results were normal and they said they dont give them over the phone and I need to make an appointment for a consultation once my DH gets sperm results to start a game plan for treatment. (he already got sperm tested previously w/ my gyno and all was ok but RE wants it tested again which we will get to in the near future) anyway, is it normal for a RE or any other dr not to let me know if my bloodwork is normal or not over the phone? I find this odd since I am a worry wart and would just like to know for my peace of mind and if there is something wrong we would immediately take action or not if its just taking us a while. Let me know your experiences and what I should do. We are not ready to take agressive action since we know sperm and hsg were good. They told me they would mail me the results which hopefully I'll know how to read. I just cant believe I cannot get a phone call saying there is a problem w/ this or that or everythings normal. werid.

Re: Bloodwork

It is your right to see your results and having been on this journey for a while I would insist on having them faxed to me. That said there are lots of places you can find the levels online or through the girls on here.

Re: Bloodwork

My doctor makes me come in for the results. After he goes over them with me I can have copies of whatever I want. But I have to meet with him first.

Re: Bloodwork

Thanks for all the responses. I just have a hard time w/drs sometimes. Its bad enough we have to get poked and proded, let alone the emotional rollercoaster that we are on they should try to make things a little more convenient.

Re: Bloodwork

Both of my RE's had me wait for an appointment to go over bloodwork before moving forward.
They then gave me copies of all the paperwork if I asked for it.

Re: Bloodwork

I think you can definitely ask for it, but its best to go over the results with the RE. They probably aren't going to spend an hour with you on the phone explaining everything. If you see them in person you have time to ask questions and have their undivided attention, instead of speaking with them for 3 minutes between patients.

Also, you can definitely request your results.

Re: Bloodwork

i totally do plan on making an appointment in the near future to discuss our game plan if I dont have an hsg baby, but It would be nice to know if there was something that I should be concerned w/as soon as dr gets results. I always thought once a dr sees something abnormal in any kind of results the patient needs to be notified RIGHT AWAY.
