Blood while pumping
I am little concerned. Yesterday while pumping I saw some blood in the milk from my nipple. I dumped the milk and just pumped from the other breast. The SAME thing happened today. I am getting concerned. I called my doctor and am waiting for a call back. Anyone else have this happen?

Re: Blood while pumping
I think a few moms experienced this and it was a popped blood vessel or something like that in thier milk ducts or it could be from your nipple. I would call the Dr....

Re: Blood while pumping
This happened to me 1x when I use to pump in the beginning... It was nothing more than a cracked nipple. The Lactation consultant told me to put olive oil on my nipples to heal them and months later all is ok

Re: Blood while pumping
Use the olive oil and it will really help. How often are you pumping? For how long? You may need the larger breasts shields..that made a huge difference for me.

Re: Blood while pumping
I've had the same thing happen a couple of times. You may need a larger breast shield. Your nipples should not be "rubbing" the inside of the plastic. When this happened to me, I was told it was okay to give the milk to the baby because if the baby was nursing, I wouldn't even see the blood -- the baby would be getting it anyway. This often happens to moms when they are just starting to nurse too.
