Blood in poop ?
Those of you that have dealt with this, is the blood like red blood?
Sadie has been throwing up nonstop again and popping like 4 times a day and A LOT. Sometimes there is brown mucousy stuff in it and it occured to me that it might be blood today.
Any thoughts?
She is on Nutramigen already.

Re: Blood in poop ?
Jen-,my son could not handle the regular nutramigen and had to be put on AA(amino acid-like Elecare or neocate) Vomiting on its own is not that dangerous but dehydration is. I would call the Dr-check her fontanel to make sure it is not sunken in. You may also want to get some pedialyte

Re: Blood in poop ?
Blood in stool is usually either bright red...or black....
I would definitely call the doctor though if you suspect blood.

Re: Blood in poop ?
The ped is closed for the day. I really dont think it is "hospital" worthy. She spits up a lot due the to the reflux but it has just been more than usual and I am getting concerned.

Re: Blood in poop ?
well black dark blood is very bad...red blood COULD be ok....
Dark blood is digested which means its not from the colon but from the intestine possibly

Re: Blood in poop ?
Sounds like the formula might not be good - if she's on nutramigin, you've established that she has a milk-protein alergy already, right? You might need to change formulas yet again.
Call your doc - he/she will probably want you to bring in a poopie diaper to test it again for blood.
Gianna has a milk-protein alergy AND she has reflux issues. I've been in your shoes - the change in formula will make a difference.
for you and your little one!

it would mean she was dehydrated.. just wanted to add that mucous in the poop usually means an intolerance to the formula.. or lactose intolerance. did you recently switch formulas? blood in the stool is usually black not brown and mucousy. HTH

Re: Blood in poop ?
DD had and still does reflux. She had a milk protein allergy and was put on Nutramigen. After a few weeks on it we noticed blood in her stool as well. She needed to be on Neocate (hypo- allergenic formula.)
After a few weeks on Neocate she did much better and no more blood.
I would definitely call the ped. and get their opionion. But, personally your DD sounds like mine (reflux and allergy.) and the switch to Neocate really did the trick. Good Luck
