blocking the sun in the car

No matter what corner I turn I feel like the sun is beating on baby's face, I have those window shades but it doesn't seem to help. What else I could I do? He is 12 weeks (car seat facing rear) I ordered sunshades for his stroller - is it safe to add something like this for car seat?

I feel the same way! My twins cry during every car ride because of the sun. I would love to know if there is something that attaches to the car seat to block the sun.
