Re: blocked tear duct

My DS had this when he was first born - the dr said the same -wipe with water - and that it was b/c his tear ducts were not fully developed yet. One eye was stuck shut a couple of mornings. The full yuckiness went away in two weeks, but every couple of days he still has some gooky stuff in there. He is 6 weeks now.

It'll be ok. Chat Icon

Re: blocked tear duct

My DD had one up until she was 11mths - she was scheduled to have surgery on it but it just disappeared before her surgery date.

It was usually yellow - not green...I used to wipe it with cotton wool and water and because she had it for so long I did massage on it a couple of times a day too.

Most of the time these things clear up my themselves..Chat Icon

Abby's had it since she was born--10 weeks ago. I wipe it away with warm water. The doctor says it is so common and not an issue unless it persists for 9 months or a year--at which point they would do a "procedure" to clear it up.
