Blizzard Beach vs. Typhoon Lagoon
I prefer Typhoon Lagoon. In my experience it is less crowded with shorter wait times on rides. I also prefer the layout. That said, I think your older child would prefer Blizzard Beach.

prefer blizzard beach - get there early - they let you in early before the rides open and you can get a locker and a seat
