Blisters from coxsackie

As luck would have it, my 3.5 mos old DD and I both got coxsackie. Her poor behind looks like a mine field. It makes me cry to even look at it. Of course I JUST returned from maternity leave last Wed and I was out Monday PM (bc I felt like crap) through today. My fever has been gone since tues but it feels like every few hours I discover a new blister on either my hands or feet. I went to my dr yesterday who said that as long as I don't have a fever I can return to work. That sounds sort of odd to me. Am I really not contagious anymore? I've been wearing latex gloves around my house to hopefully spare DH and my 3 year old. Obviously I can't wear gloves at work. Thoughts?

I am pretty sure you are still contagious as long as the blisters are there...

I would tend to agree but it takes FOREVER for skin to heal. The ones in my mouth are already gone bc your mouth heals much quicker. Realistically, if you burn your finger, it could take up to two weeks to fully heal. How can a person be contagious for that long?

If new blisters are popping up, then the virus is still very active. Coxackie can last for 2 weeks or more.. Call your pediatrician as they will know more about it.

This virus is really the worst. To watch a kid in pain from it is horrible and it seems like it's never going to go away!!! I need to go back to work Chat Icon
