Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
My DD has had regular AG dolls since then (it was a present) and we always taught her to be nice to it and take care of it. DD will be 13 in January and besides a couple of scuffs it still looks good.
You can get the bitty twins too. Idk if that's less money though. If you dont want to spend the money they sell the knock offs in target that are cute.

We had one at that age. IDK.... at 2 they are happy with any doll. Not sure if a $50 doll is worth any more to them then a regular doll KWIM? Especially if it is their first.
I think I would buy a cheap starter doll first and then get this at 3.

Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
My DD got one for her 2nd birthday a few weeks ago and loves her. She is very into her dolls. She feeds them, takes them for walks, wraps them in blankets and puts them to sleep etc.
Right now she is in her crib with her bitty baby and they are both under the blanket

Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
Yes, Yes and Yes - depending on your DD. My parents got DD#2 her bitty baby for Christmas (18 months) and she loved it so much (and still loves it and sleeps with it at night) that they got her for her 2nd birthday the bitty twins. I would try to ask your child what they want to ask santa for - to get an idea - they got a boy and a girl - but my DD ONLY plays with the girl. The boy she has in bed with her but doesn't really play with him (just hugs him). In fact it has gotten so much attention and loving that she is asking for 2 more girls for Christmas. I'm thinking of getting them only because she has gotten more use out of that doll than any other toy.
I would say though if your DD isn't into dolls that much I might not bother - so it really depends on the child. DD#1 had a set at 3 and didn't really play with them nearly as much. But if your DD is into babies and dolls I would definitely consider it.

At 2 I would say Nay. My DD got her American Girl for her 5th birthday and then asked for the Bitty Baby this birthday. I would just get a baby doll. Target has nice ones.

Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
DD is getting one, she will be 2 in April, but my mom is insisting on buying her a Bitty Baby. She loves her cheap $10 babies so I don't see the need, but its something my mom wants to buy her.

Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
Aboslutely! They hold up SO much better than a regular baby doll. No broken eyes, fallen off lashes, loose heads, plastic stiff bodies, etc. So worth the extra money IMO.

Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
DD got one for christmas last year from my MIL... she was 2.5 last year... she has no clue why that doll is more special then any of the other ones... she is now 3.5 and still has no clue, so I would say wait until the girls are old enough to really appreciate it...

Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
DD turned 2 last month and we ordered a Bitty Baby for Christmas. She recently has shown a big interest in her dolls and I think she is going to love it. Also, since she will be a big sister soon I thought it would be nice for her to have her 'own' baby to help take care of.

Re: Bitty Baby for a two year old??
my dds got the bitty baby twins for christmas last year they were only 7 mos at the time, i was annoyed because someone else bought them i was going to buy them this year as they will be 19 mos, but they are still sitting in their boxes in a closet, my dds don't really play with dolls so i feel my girls are not ready for them yet
