Birthing completely covered?

Does anyone know if Empire Blue Cross Blue Sheild covers a birth completely? Or if there's a co-payment (or some sort of payment) due at the hospital? Don't know why $500 is ringing a bell in my head.

Does anyone know? TIA!

Re: Birthing completely covered?

That's the insurance I have. I gave birth on May 6th and so far, nothing yet. It may be still too early to tell though, but I haven't paid anything except for a copay my first pregnancy visit.

I'll let you know if I get a bill.

ETA: I just logged online to the site. My birth claim is already there Chat Icon and yes, it says my responsibilty is $500. DH will not be happy when that bill comes!

No, it lists all my claims to the insurance for all my visits though. It has colums, and one colum says "$ claim amount" and the next column says "$ patient responsibility" and on the line dated 5/6/06 it says $500 where all other lines say $0. Oh well, I have to see what my bill is for. I also believe there is a separate line for the anesthesia (epidural) I got. But I owe nothing for that claim.
