Birthday traditions?

Do any of you do special traditions for your DC every year for their b-day? Either a special breakfast, or something special at their party, special hat, etc.?

I'm wanting to start a nice tradition (besides making her cake every year, which I want to try to do) for DD, but don't know what I want to do.

I will be taking off every time his birthday falls on a work day. I bought a candle that you light every year until the child turns 18.

I will be making their cakes each year and we will do something special, like going to the zoo, aquarium, each year.

Also each boy get's his own cake, they don't have to share one cake.

Not sure how do-able it will be but I would love to make a one true media video each year and sit as a family while eating cake to watch his year in review.

The night before I want to set some balloons and streamers up in his room while he sleeps (fun to wake up to) and decorate the dining room too.

Re: Birthday traditions?

I have a birthday party for just us on the actual day their birthday falls on. (so far their parties will be/have been NOT on their actual birthday)

I decorate, make a separate cake, decorate the highchair, get a special outfit, etc.

We sing happy birthday and blow out the candles just Dh and i the girls.
