Birthday party during the week?
I'm thinking about doing a birthday party during the week for DC and I'm thinking around the time frame of 5:30pm or 6pm start. Anyone think this is okay or way too much of an inconvenience? Most of the people I will be inviting are SAHMs maybe 2 get off work around 5...I once was invited to a birthday party on a Friday evening and I didn't think anything of it. Curious how others feel here.
ETA..I just want to add when I mentioned this to my mom she said it would be an inconvenience because the moms have to cook for the husbands. She's a little old school but she got me thinking. Would this be a problem with any of you?

Re: Birthday party during the week?
I am fine with weekday parties in the summer when I'm off. If it was during the school year my DS probably wouldn't be able to attend.

Re: Birthday party during the week?
I don't think it's an issue. I would go plus the kids get fed dinner so it makes my night easier. I do think that a thursday or friday would be more ideal as its toward the end of the work week but I would make any weekday work if it was a good friend.

Re: Birthday party during the week?
For us it depends. If it's a classmate party we can't do weekday parties since I can't bring both kids and my DH doesn't get home until well after they go to bed, so I have no one to leave the other kid with.

Re: Birthday party during the week?
We always did simple parties at 6:30 or so during the week-just cake and ice cream, maybe pizza.
I would go to a party after 6 or so during the week.

Re: Birthday party during the week?
I like the idea of a weeknight party. Frees up my weekend, plus I don't have to make dinner! Daddy can fend for himself one night -not a problem.

Re: Birthday party during the week?
Last week we went to a during the week party. It was in the morning. Most of the mommies are SAHM but even the working mommies took off for their kids to attend. I was surprised. I don't think I would do a week day party unless I made it clear in the invite that parents are welcome and I was serving dinner but that is just me.

Re: Birthday party during the week?
dads can pick up pizza.....
but i'd think 6 pm might be safer if inviting some working moms.

Re: Birthday party during the week?
I am a teacher and to save $ we did DD's 2nd Bday on a weekday, Thursday at 3-4:30...everyone came except for a friend who actually had a Thursday wedding. It was great, I say go ahead.
