Birth control
I have my 6 week PP check up on Monday and need to go on BC. I'm not a fan of the hormones but I have to be on it bc "using condoms" is how I got both of my DDs!!
I don't want to get an IUD. I was thinking about Nuvaring. Any feedback on it? Or does anyone use a Pill that they love?

Are you breast feeding? I think the only pill you can use if you are is the mini pill. I was not a fan of it, next time I will definitely use something different.

I was on LoEstrin FE for a long time and liked it. The generic versions are Junel and Microgestin. I am probably going to go back on at the end of this month..Assuming it doesn't result in an oopsy from good old, old fashion 'pull and pray' method.
ETA - no personal experience with Nuvaring but I had a friend on it who did not like it because it feel out a few times during sex.

Re: Birth control
Nuvaring is hormonal BC - just wanted to clarify. I couldn't tell from your post if you were implying it was different than the pill. I've used the ring and had no complaints (other than not liking hormonal BC in general). You leave it in for 3 weeks, remove it for a week. I liked not having to take a pill everyday. I used it for many years and could probably count on one hand how many times it fell out during sex. It's not a big deal if it does as long as you realize it and put it back in after. A quick check for peace of mind goes a long way I also don't remember it being felt by me or partner. Easy to insert and remove.

Sorry for the confusion. I know nuvaring is still hormonal. I don't like the idea of hormones in general but I know right now I don't have a choice!

Abstinence is a reliable method It'll only last so long though and then I'll end up with a 4th baby!!!!

5 months and counting! Technically 6 months since we stopped DTD when I was about 39w. "V-day" is already scheduled! But I'm going to remain abstinent until the sperm analyses come back clear. I am dedicated to this mission. My last delivery experience was so horrendous, i refuse to put myself through that again.

I have a paraguard IUD now and I love it. In the past I used nuva and both DH and I hated it. Prior to that I used orthotricyclen for many years. I like orthotricyclen and I only stopped taking it because of other medical issues.

I swear the only way I'd ever truly feel 100% safe is if i had a full hysterectomy!

it is the only way ... I have been debating about getting my tubes tied or having DH get cut ... I cant believe both still have a chance of me getting pregnant. I am thinking of getting tied and him getting cut so there is even less of a chance

Ortho tricyclen made me nuts!! I was on it when I was younger and I was crazy!!! The only pill I was ever on that I didn't have side effects with was Alesse which they don't make anymore! I've tried the generic of it but it made me sick. I haven't had good experiences with most pills I've tried that's why I'm leaning towards giving the nuvaring a shot.

Re: Birth control
I've had terrible experiences with just about every single BC pill out there. They all made me sick or insanely moody/irrational. Even the patch made me very sick. I ended up on Apri and it's the only pill that hasn't had negative effects. I've been on it for over 13 years now.

Many people I know have had issues with the nuvaring. Pre dd no issues. After dd it made me mental. Same happened to 3 of my friends. Dr said it's a common side effect for some reason. My other girlfriend was getting blinding migraines and after tons of tests and such it was determined to be the ring.
Personally, I would not go back to it. I have the paragard right now which is ok.

Re: Birth control
The ring and the patch are delivering the same type of hormones as the pill, just in another way of getting it into your body. So if you get nutty or sick or whatever from bc pills, you are likely to have the same issues with the patch or ring.
I think mirena has a LOWER dose of hormones because it's an iud and acts to prevent pregnancy that way as well and so it uses less hormones.

I'm so afraid of the iud. I know people love it but I've also heard some horror stories. I guess its like any form of BC though as in it works great for some and not others!! The long term plan is to have DH get a vasectomy but until then I need to be on something. I'm not liking my options. They need to invent a man pill!!!

I'm going back on Lo Loestrin as soon as I get my next period, which cannot come soon enough.
Abstinence until then. It took a while to conceive dd but I know one slip up and I'd be preggers again. And even the greatest sex ever is not worth the hell of being pregnant again!

I thought about paraguard because I like the idea of no hormones but I heard periods can be a killer?

I've been on Lo Lesrein, Microgestein and Minastrin 24. I never had any side effects with any of them. My period was actually the lightest and shortest with Minastrin.

I had heavy periods the first few cycles after having the IUD inserted both times I had one put in (pre and post dd). It got better over time and now I usually have one heavy day and the other 2-3 days are very light. I was Very nervous about getting it but I have been very happy. I check the strings every month just to make sure it is still in place.
