Re: Birding girls...just a thought
I'd be in, I see events listed in the paper all the time & I always say I want to go but never make it.
Do you have a place in mind?

Re: Birding girls...just a thought
Totally. Be there.
I know nothing of Suffolk parks, so I'm going to defer to you ladies. The only ones I really know of are Caleb Smith, which I heard was huge but I've never been there... Blydenburgh but I only know that they have dog-friendly trails... and Sunken Meadow because I heard there are Osprey platforms there.
I'm trying to play it cool with my husband because ever since I put up the feeder right outside the back door, he's been more interested in identifying and watching them. He's never shown much interest before so I don't want to attack him with enthusiasm.
But he came to me the other day and said, "There's a woodpecker on the feeder we've never seen before!" and I asked him to describe it - he did really well, even though I never taught him how to ID. He compared the size to a Cardinal, said it had black and white on it's wings and a patch of red on the back of it's head. He knew it was a woodpecker because of it's climbing habit on the tree. He was describing a Northern Flicker, and I was really proud of him!
I don't think he'd go the first time birding with a bunch of girls but maybe a second outing, he might.
Sorry, I totally went off on a tangent. But yea, count me in for a birding/nature walk outing!

Re: Birding girls...just a thought
When my brother went to Southampton College, there was an animal sanctuary not too far from there that he took me too that touched some sort of water. You can walk through it, and the birds come down to your hands if you have bird seed and will fly close to you and stay on branches to get beautiful shots.
I have the name of the place at home, but I'd be willing to join in too!

I think that's it! Thanks! And if it's not, it's still a great place to go, and we could carpool out there.

I've gone in winter time to the place named above. Less traffic along the trails. And the birds love the bird seed and come more willingly to the hand.
