big baby!
So I know that ultrasounds tend to exaggerate a bit on the weight, and they sometimes show that the baby is bigger than it is.. but, I was just told I have a big baby
At 35 weeks, she is almost 7 lbs! The dr. said she is measuring two weeks ahead. But, it doesn't mean that she will come early!

Re: big baby!
I know how you feel. My dr says I have a big baby too. I don't know exactly how big she is now, but I'm a little scared to get her out of me. Hopefully she will be early.

Re: big baby!
I had a growth sono at 30 weeks and I'm having another one soon. From the one at 30 weeks, they are predicting at least a 9 pound baby. I am not too worried about it because:
1.) I have heard so many stories about people hearing that the baby would be big and the baby ended up being a pound to a pound and a half less than what was predicted.
2.) At this point, there isn't a whole lot I can do about it. I trust my doctor and have to believe that she and the hospital will do whatever is best for the baby when I deliver. If I have to have a c-section because it's safer, I am OK with that.

Re: big baby!
I can relate...at my 30 week appt the dr. actually referred to my baby as "the moose". The baby was measuring in the 82nd percentile at 4.2 pounds.

Re: big baby!
I had a growth sono 12 days before I delivered and they had her measuring at 8lb 3oz...she was born at 9lb, 8oz so they were right on...big babies are good, nice and healthy

Re: big baby!
I am sorry to hear your news, but big babies do tend to be more healthy, so that part is good.
It's hard to say when you will deliver or how fast she will continue to grow, so it's possible she won't be as big as they are predicting.

I had my son via csection at 42 wks because I never went into labor. His estmiated weight was 10 lbs...he came out 10lbs 13oz so I am glad I opted for the csection. They told me 9 out of 10 babies are UNDER what they predict. I got the one that was OVER. But he was healthy and an armful to hold. I prefer bigger babies over peanuts...
But for this pregnancy I had a sono this past (I am 36 wks) and the estimated weight was 7lbs 13oz!! Only 2 more weeks to go so I am hoping to have this baby just under 9lbs!

Re: big baby!
I'm worrying about a c section too. My little guy is in the "> 90th percentile" but I don't know what percent exactly. At 36 weeks his weight was estimated at 8 lbs 6 ounces. I know it's all an educated guess, but still, I worry b/c I really want to deliver vaginally. However, all that matters in the end is that the baby and mom are healthy, so if that means c-section, so be it. I know how you feel though, it's a little frightening.

That is exactly how I feel. I know there is not much I can do about it.. but...
