BFing while sick - meds question
I have a pretty decent cold (runny nose, scratchy throat, and cough). Is it safe to take DayQuil? If not, what did you take?

Yes! I have taken NyQuil too. There are very, very few drugs not safe while BF. You can always call Infant Risk to double check. Don't rely on pharmacists or even doctors. They are often times wrong.

My pediatrician recommended the lacmed website it is really helpful- it gives information on lots of medications and their safety while breastfeeding- I am not sure if it covers OTC meds.

BFing while sick - meds question
Hi, I have a pretty bad cold going on now. I went to the dr for a refill on thyroid meds and asked about the cold unfortunately he told me if I am still breastfeeding only plain Robitussin and reg benadryl or Claritin for congestion. He said if I had a throat infection he would prescribe a grade B antibotics but for a cold I just need to tough it out.
