BFing moms

Was your DC on a schedule right away or kinda just ate when she/he wanted to eat? I will give DD a bottle, 2-3 ounces and she'll seem satisfied but always seems to want the nipple for dessert. I feel like I'm always taking my breast out. Is this normal in the beginning?

DS wanted to eat all the time- esp. at night...

In the beg. even w/ FF babies- there is no schedule... what they say goes!

Thanks! So just let her keep eating as much as she needs to satisfy her? When do they get on somewhat of a schedule?

Yes, that's how it is in the begining.

I believe after about a month or so, my son got on a more structured schedule. He would start eatign every 2 hours during the day and every 3 hours during the night. Then it became every 3 hours during the night and every 4 hours during the day etc.

Nope, no schedule for a few months. Even then you have to be flexible. In the beginning it does feel like all day long. Keep up the good work and let the baby be the boss for now!

She was on a schedule on her own- every 3 hours. After 6 I would feed her every 2 hours so she would eat more and sleep longer (it worked). Now like clockwork she wakes up at 10 and I feed her and she sleeps until 7:30-8.

My DD was never on a schedule. I fed her and still feed her 100% on demand.

It's totally normal for her to want. Sometimes DD would go 2-3, sometimes she was snacking every 40 minutes. It starts to feel like a human pacifier, but there's no way i could deny her food if she was crying cause it wasn't "time" to eat yet.

Sometimes DD just wanted to suckle.

Totally normal! BF babies shouldn't be on schedules, they can feed whenever they want. My boob's where always out!

DS is 2 months and he eats whenever he wants. I don't have a real schedule for his feedings. Sometimes it 2-3 hours sometimes its every hour.

i ebf for 6 months and then did formula and bf until 8 months. i always fed on demand. in the beginning that meant it seemed like i was always bfing. i think around 3 months it started to fall into more of a pattern, usually every 3 hours or so, but sometimes it would be 2 and sometimes 4. i never worried about a schedule. i just fed him when he was hungry.

In the beginning I felt that DD was always attached to my boob. But when I introduced the pacifer I realized sometimes she wanted to eat and sometimes she just wanted to suck on something. Now she eats every 2.5-3.5 hrs during the day and gives me a nice long stretch of about 7-8hrs at night. I didn't put her on this schedule she kind of created it herself. The only thing I do is make sure she doesn't sleep through a feeding during the day so I can sleep at night.
