BFing moms - how many ounces?
DD is 5.5 months and takes 4-5.5 ounces at a time. Maybe she has plateaued? I shouldn't be worried right? She is tiny...mostly breastfed and eats 5-6x a day and poops and pees a lot and sleeps good. I never tried more ounces than that...if I pump I only produce 3.5-5oz. In the morning I got up to 8 oz so I think she tanks up her first 2 feedings. Anyway I think it's ok but MIL keeps raising an eyebrow that her bottles are only 5oz (we are on vacay so going more bottles than normal.)

BFing moms - how many ounces?
Sounds totally normal to me. DD usually took 4-5 ounces when she had a bottle, although she didn't have many. I usually got 3-4 ounces when I pumped, I think my record was a whopping 5 oz.
I wouldn't let your MIL bother you. She may be used to formula feeding where infants tend to take more ounces per bottle.

My DD Is almost 4mo and has never taken more than a 4oz bottle. I pump 3 times a day at work and 2 of 3 times, I only get 4oz. It sounds normal to me. my DD is also pretty small, but is gaining well and poops and pees enough so I'm not concerned.

My son is now 10months and I've never given him more then 5oz max per feeding (when he is in daycare). Now he barely finishes 4oz bottles

My DD is only 11 weeks and is drinking 4 ounces every 3 hours. I'm currently pumping 5-8 ounces every 3-4 hours.
I'm thinking when she hits 4-5 months she will be at 5-6 ounces. Every baby is different. If they pee and poop than I wouldn't worry. I strongly believe your child will let you know if they need more.

I breastfed all three of my kids for a year...and they started at 2 oz and went up ~ 1/2 oz to 1 oz every month until they plateaued at 5-5.5 oz and they stayed at that amt for the entire 1st year! It doesn't work the same way as formula..the content of breastmilk changes over time to meet the changing needs of your baby! if they feel content - I wouldn't push to have them take more!

Tiny tot has 3 6.5oz at dc
some dont get that bf babies dont need as much as formula babies. ive had to explain this to my mil 908676765 times

Kelly mom says that BF baby's don't increase their consumption after 1 month. The site also says on average, BF babies eat 25 oz per day.
My dd went from 3 oz bottles to 4 or 4.5 oz bottles, so not sure that it was true for us.

Sounds GOOD to me! My db is in daycare 10 hours a day and takes 12oz AT MOST! And she takes those ounces in 2oz increments! At first I was really concerned, but she is gaining well and poops and pees normally, so I guess that is just how she is!

Every baby is different. My BF DD would eat 30oz each day, and my FF nephew (a few week younger) would eat 24oz. We are the sane way as adults!!
As long as she is gaining, and had wet/dirty diapers there is nothing to worry about.

This is your answer. Both my twins never took more then 4oz at a time and I pumped for them, so I always knew how much they were taking.
