BFing and Pumping

This is the one topic that I feel so clueless about.

My friend has the $300 Medela Pump which she offered to lend me suggesting that I contact Medela and see if I can purchase new tubes because BRU only sells the nipple suction cup thingys. I do not think I am going to be able to get new tubing. Has anyone bought new tubes? Should I buy a pump before I even know if BFing is working out for me or wait until after the baby gets here???

If you pump...when did you start pumping? How often do you pump? Which pump do you have?

I am so worried about this but I know I want to do it.

I wouldn't buy the pump just yet. My friend is loaning me her Medela pump and yes you can buy new tubes.

I personally don't want to spend $300 on something in which i'm not even sure if it will work out.

Medela does sell all the parts you need, if you contact their US head office, they will be very helpful and get you what parts you need. I rented one from the UK head office (which strangely enough is just near my house...what a coincidence) and they have all the parts and were very helpful.

They sell the replacement kit. I suggest buying the kit and trying out her pump for a while before buying your own.

I don't know anything about the tubing. But I would wait to buy anything until you see how BFing is going for you.

I started pumping right away, in between the babies feedings, just so I would have some storage. I would pump about 3-4 times a day.

I have the Medela single electric pump, I am not sure the name of it. I love it. I would rather have a double, but I didn't want to spend that much $$.
