BF Question - How many times do you offer?
When nursing, how many times do you offer the breast before you determine DC is full? Ryan will usually nurse for a full 5-minutes straight - then pull off. I never know if he's resting or that's enough. Sometimes he'll take it if I offer it to him again, but then sometimes he'll spit up so I don't know if I force fed him. Also, sometimes he just gets distracted so not sure if he's still hungry or just wanting to ck out something else.

Re: BF Question - How many times do you offer?
I feel that if DS pulls off, he is done. sometimes when I see he is done after 5 minutes on one side and I put him on the other anyway. And once I go to burp him he spits up alot. To me that is over feeding.
But - sometimes when I see him doing the "flutter" feeding (not really nursing, just using me as a paci) I will take him off... he very rarely breaks off on his own.

How long have you been breastfeeding for???
in the beginning my DS would be 20 and 20 and then he started to do 5 and 5 and i got worried and i called the lactation consultant and she said in the beginning it should be longer but once he gets the hang of it it will be shorter bc they are sucking it out g better and more comes out ....
HTH
Believe me if they are hungry they will let you know it... once he pulls off try the other one and if he refuses then i would assume they are done..

Almost 6 months. I know he'll let me know if he's hungry but I'm trying to avoid letting him be a snacker. I don't want him nursing, then an hour later looking to nurse again b/c he didn't eat well the first time. He's def. A LOT more efficient now. Used to take over an hour - now I know for sure he's done in 10-minutes but when it'sl closer to 5 I wonder if he's just not focusing.

DS is getting SOOOOO distracted too! Must be the age... I always leave him there a few min when he pulls off... if he still wants it ... he knows exactally where it is, if hes done hes usually looking the other way or trying to sit up!
