BF mommas....what should I do if I'm going to be away from DD?
we have a concert to go to where we'll be associating with some higher-ups and peers from DH job ( A T & T).
I can't bring the new baby with me.
Is a concert (with an hrs drive each way) too long to just not feed or pump?
Should I go buy a small hand-held pump and excuse myself to the restroom once or twice and if so, how do I store it or do I just dump it to relieve the pressure?
We'll be in a suite, not in actual seats in the arena.

I lucked out most times with a handicap restroom with a sink...I would hand express into the sink.

I would buy a cheap manual pump (my friend's loved them) and pump and bring it home. Check medela's website. They say how long pumped milk can be left out. I think it's a pretty decent amount of time.

Pump in the car on the way. That's what I have done many times in order to maximize my time. And before it gets asked, i was not driving.

That's a FABULOUS idea!! Why I never thought of that!
I can't even tell you what a lifesaver it has been for me. I cover myself with a blanket and pump away. Then I put the milk in a cooler of if DS is with me I give him fresh expressed milk which doesn't need to be heated up. I'm telling you it's great.
As a matter of fact I am doing it this Saturday because I am going to the Madonna concert. So DH is going to drive me into the city and I am going to pump on my way in. That will give me hours before I have to pump again!

I pump in the car too. The battery pack is the best! I bring a cooler with ice.
I did this at the US open. I went to the car 3 times because I was there the entire day.
I was going to quit pumping and breastfeeding all together this month because I started to travel again for work, but yesterday I went to Boston and FedEXed my milk to my house because you can't take it on a plane. It was expensive but I don't care. I don't have a back up supply. I will probably pump for at lest another month. DD is 6 months old today.
Good luck! Pumping and nursing is a challange!
