BF and getting baby to sleeo

just wondering - some people told me to try and keep my daughter up during the day so she will sleep longer ar night - does this really work? she's only 2 weeks old and I breastfeed

also - does anyone have any recommendations as to when to try to put her down to sleep at night? like - what time or what seemed to work best for you and your babies?

If you are breastfeeding you really need to be feeding the baby every couple of hours. Every 2-3 in the daytime and no more than 4-5 hours should go by at night. I think at night. This is to keep your supply up. Your baby is still very young and you need to feed on demand. It will get better usually after like 6 weeks they may sleep a little longer.

Re: BF and getting baby to sleeo

People told me that as well, but there's a saying out there that "sleep begets sleep", and it's so true. The more baby sleeps soundly during the day, the better he/she will sleep at night. If you try to keep baby awake longer during the day, she/he will likely become SUPER cranky and overtired, which will make it virtually impossible to put baby to sleep at night.

As far as bedtime goes, you have to experiment. In the beginning our daughter had absolutely no rhyme or reason as to the time she went down for the night, but eventually she fell into her own routine, and now she goes to sleep most nights at 7pm.

I agree with Beth. The more your baby sleeps in the day, the better she will sleep at night. Otherwise, she can get overtired.

At the beggining my baby was waking up every 2/3 hours and I breastfed him on demand. At 5 weeks he started to sleep 5 hours at night, from 12 to 5 and little by little he set his own schedule. Right now, at 6 months, we start his routine at 8 pm and he goes to sleep at 9 pm.
