Me! My daughter is allergic to milk, eggs (yolks & whites), sesame seeds, peanuts, peas, some tree nuts--those are the things we know for sure. She is 8 months now & it's scary introducing new foods now that she's old enough for solids. I've eliminated all of the known allergens from my diet, too.

Just want to say God bless you! I'm not sure if I could stick with BF if I needed to be on that restrictive of a diet!

Re: BF and Allergies

Yes, due to my son's severe corn allergy (hypersensitivity) I had about 6-8 foods at any given time for the first year, but after that never had more than 20 foods (almost all vegetables). You can do anything that you set your mind to!

I've already cut out the top 8, plus meat, and today, 2 months later she still had blood in her stool. I'm so confused, and frustrated. At this point it could be anything.

Eliminating foods is fine with me, I don't mind doing it, I just don't know where to go from here and the doctor didn't really know either. There are just so many things it could be.

I thought for sure I knew which food was affecting my LO, but cutting it out did not help. Now, I'm eliminating more foods. Nothing seems to help so far.

How many months is the baby? I would look into a pediatric allergist, and a pediatric gastro and pick their brains. They might have a different approach Lots of Chat Icon

She's 4 months and we've been working with both for 2 months. They just describe her as a very extreme case. Chat Icon

IMO, you need to cut out ALL processed foods, and keep a detailed food journal. Unless you make it in your kitchen, you don't eat it. If that doesn't work, try th Dr. Sears total elimination diet (TED). You can do that with any foods, you need one source of protein, one fruit, two veggies, olive oil and Himalayian or Celtic sea salt. If your LO doesn't get better from there, she is either allergic to one of the foods on that diet (in that case, she would get exponentially worse due to eating larger portions of the food), or she has a corn allergy. If you think she has a corn allergy, pm me or join the FB group corn allergy and intolerance. There are almost no safe foods for a highly sensitive corn allergic (which is why I had 6 total foods for the first year, and those weren't even completely safe).

Thank you. I'll definitely read up on this today. I rarely eat anything out of a package, but I'll cut it all out now.

Thank you! It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be. My goal is to get to 1 year BF, then I will go from there...also hoping she outgrows them! There are no known allergies in mine or DH's families...dunno how our daughter got to be the lucky one Chat Icon
