bethpage... history / questions

we had someone suggest to us to check out bethpage when we buy again...

so, doing a simple MLS check on houses, there are ALOT of two bedroom houses.

why?

i understand for houses near the water, people used to build summer houses / bungalows with fewer bedrooms.

why does bethpage have so many two bedroom homes?

what schools are in bethpage? (high school)

taxes? what's the average? (if there is one... haha)

are you happy living there? stay away from any area?

thanks!!

Re: bethpage... history / questions

We've been here 2 years and are very happy. I have no idea why there are so many 2 bedroom houses. We never encountered any when we were looking and have never heard that.

Bethpage High School is the only high school. My elementary school is in Plainview, but it is Bethpage SD.

Our taxes are a little under $10K.

Re: bethpage... history / questions

Bethpage has a lot of older homes and farmhouses. There was a lot of land for each house decades ago and people sold off their land and built more homes. Some of them quite small.

We have a 4 bedroom home set way back down a long driveway. There are two other homes on this long driveway. Luckily the neighbors are really great and we all are friendly.

We live in the northern part of Bethpage right at the Plainview border but we pay Bethpage taxes. The HS is Bethpage and the elementary is Kramer Lane. My neighbors kids all go there and they love it. Our plot of land is funky because of it since we don't have a backyard but we have two side yards that suit us.

I like this part of Bethpage rather than the more southern parts. Just personal preference. I like the Plainview shopping that is close by. The town itself is small but it's very centrally located.

We get to use both community parks, Bethpage which just built a brand new ice rink and they have a very nice pool.

Plainview's park (don't remember the name) has a baseball field, pool and I think tennis courts. They are both well kept and very quiet and lots of fun for everyone.

Our taxes are just under $8K.

I live in Bethpage on the Island Trees side. In Bethpage, you can either go to Bethpage SD, Island Trees SD or Plainedge SD. Not sure about the 2 bedroom houses. And my taxes are under $10K.
