Beta update....so confused!
Hey girls - I had my beta and progesterone re-run today bc I am being told I do not have a viable pregnancy due to small sac and no baby showing as of 7 weeks. I understand it could be over but still having some test run, etc.
-Beta at 6+ weeks was 16,000 -Don't know what progesterone was
-Beta done today at 7+ weeks was 16,000 (same) -Progesterone was 10 today. Dr. said 15 was normal for this stage but 10 isn't bad either
He said my numbers did not rise or fall but that could be ok - hard to tell. He said we cannot 100% depend on beta at this point so I am indeed still going for a 3rd sono Friday for another look. I am also considering a 2nd opinion with a high risk dr. at this point. I saw one already bc I had a large hematoma. They were the ones who said my pregnancy was not progressing and dismissed me. Depends how friday goes but may want a better look with good equipment and see 100% what is going on down there.
Also side note, my boobs are still killing me. That is my only side effect right now. I am not sure if that is normal and bc my body hasn't let go yet or if it is bc I am still pregnant?!!?! I am so stuck in limbo here and it has been very hard and confusing. The future looks grim but I am not giving up just yet.

Re: Beta update....so confused!
I went to an RE and was being monitored every week at first. Once they saw my baby's hb at 6.5 weeks, they stopped doing betas. Apparently, after that point betas are pretty irrelevant and the important thing is the size of the fetus / visibility of the heart beat. Maybe if your dates are off, you're not as far along as you thought? I hope that's the case for you.
Progesterone causes sore boobs. That's why your boobs hurt before af; your progesterone level is higher in anticipation of a possible baby.
I'm sorry to sound like a downer. I really do wish you luck at your appointment on Friday and hope this is all some crazy misunderstanding. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Re: Beta update....so confused!
i'm hoping everything works out for you...you are right to not give up hope just yet but its good to be realistic as well...i will pray that you get good news at your next appointment...
i'm not sure about the levels because when i had blood tests done my ob never mentioned beta or progesterone levels with me - or any results - i'm assuming because my numbers were appropriate...my blood was drawn around 6 weeks if i'm remembering right...symptoms are tricky....i had symptoms early on that lasted until a few days after the d&c...boob pain was my most constant symptom and unfortunately for me it didn't mean anything good...i'm hoping that isn't the case for you...lots of luck...

Re: Beta update....so confused!
First time I had my blood drawn they didn't give me the numbers, just told me they confirmed my pregnancy (somewhere around 5 weeks).
At 6 weeks they did sono and drew blood. Saw gestational sac and yolk sac. No HB. Beta was 30,000 progesterone was 11. They said that was low and suggested I start progesterone suppositories.
At 6w5d they had me do another sono. Sono showed no change in size of gestational sac, no fetal pole either. My OB said the pregnancy wasn't viable based off my high betas, low progesterone and lack of HB/fetal pole. This was a Friday. They scheduled me for a D&C for the following Monday.
Went in for the D&C at 7w1d, and before the procedure they did a sono to make sure there was no change.
Well there was a healthy heartbeat! So they kept looking and found a 2nd healthy heartbeat. Apparently my betas were so high because I was pregnant with identical twins.
Now, I know your betas haven't risen, but they haven't dropped either.
It's so hard to be in such limbo right now, but I would hold off on making any additional decisions until your next sono. I'm sure its possible the dates can be off, which would result in your being not as far along as you think you are.
Many and
