This.
We used it a few weeks ago to go to my uncle's in NJ. We had the baby in the car and it told us traffic was dead stopped on the turnpike right before the exit we needed, and provided an alternate route. I love this app.

Google Maps is usually pretty great with real-time traffic and delays. I use it all the time - the app and the website.
Weather updates - the Accuweather app is my favorite (LOVE the precipitation minutecast!) and noaa.gov

Waze isn't just an app, you can use www.waze.com, they have live traffic maps.
You can even get directions based on historical info. You can look for directions at 1PM tomorrow and they will adjust based on the history of traffic.
Also, Google Maps is integrated with Waze so any traffic, construction alerts, etc all come from Waze and are put onto Google.
