Best places to get moving supplies
We're planning on moving a lot of stuff such as clothing etc ourselves, since we're moving not too far away and I'd rather just have a moving company move my furniture...what can I pack in to move our clothes etc easily..also where I can get the best prices on boxes and etc..

I was going to say craigslist but with all this bedbug stuff going around I would stay away from that.

Some stores will give away boxes-usually grocery and liquor stores-that are great for smaller items.
For clothes, a family friend suggested a while back, and we've been doing even since, laying clothes flat with the hangers rubber-banded together and putting them into garbage bags (yes, like Angelina from Jersey Shore!).

I suggest you get same size boxes or 2-3 sizes. Those free store boxes are horrible to stack vs same size boxes on top of each other in a truck. BTDT!
I would go to HD. Their boxes are cheaper that at moving/storage places.

I don't know how their prices compare to local retailers, but U-line has a whole line of moving boxes and supplies. You can even buy a kit of assorted items (but that might be too much for you if you are having movers).

don't worry I was thinking of using contractor bags for things like sweaters and things that don't get wrinkled

We used www.dialabox.com.
They have the giant boxes with the poles in them which made it SOOOOOOOO easy to move our clothes.
