Best place to stay in Philly
Trying to pick a hotel for a 1 night stay in Philly. We are going to the Please Touch Museum, Liberty Bell, "Rocky Steps", and Geno's cheesesteaks.
Any recommendations on a particular hotel or location to stay? Also, any other sites or places to eat that you recommend? TIA

Best place to stay in Philly
I stayed at a wonderful historic place owned by the National Park Service. It was once owned by a good friend of Ben Franklin's. We could walk a lot of places from it.

I have also stayed at another historic house in the heart of the city where you could walk to most places:

I prefer places with character as they provide the best memories.
Gino's is a lot of fun for a cheese steak. It's on the other side of the city, so you might want to drive to it. We did. Philly is full of good restaurants. We went to an Afghan one that everyone loved. We also got an excellent cheese steak, better than Gino's, at a pub not far down from Independence Hall on Chestnut Street.
I would suggest walking through the Besty Ross House which is near Independence Park, and taking a carriage ride through the historic district. We learned a lot from our driver who really knew his history and made it interesting.
Have fun!

Hotel Monaco - a Kimpton Hotel. Right in the heart of Philly.
Highly recommend! Great price and rates #1 on trip advisor.

Loews Philadelphia. It has a pool.
A ten minute walk to the historic district.
Right across the street from the Reading Terminal Market... a foodie's paradise.
The art museum is on the other side of town. We walked the 2 miles and stopped for lunch 1/2 way there.

Those hotels look so neat! Unfortunately, DH doesn't want to stay at an "old place"
I'll definitely try to get to the Betsy Ross House and maybe take a tour. Thanks
