Best Laundry Pre-treater/Stain Remover?

What's good?
I haven't bought one in years but DD is ALWAYS getting tomato sauce, etc on her clothes and I can't get the stains out.

What works good for this?

Borax! I swear by that stuff, it's super cheap compared to the stuff out there and I go through a ton of it with two young DS that constantly stain their clothes!

Do you soak in it? Put it directly on the stain?
how does it work?

I use the regular Spray n Wash....although now I think its called Resolve. But someone on my FB newsfeed was just saying about how they swear by Dreft stain remover bc its the only one that works for her.
The tomato sauce is leaving a stain probably bc of the oil so the trick is to spray, rub it in gently and let it sit for a good 10 minutes b4 you wash it.

I usually just put half a cup in with the detergent and that does the trick for the smaller stains. However, if it's sauce or something tough, I'll soak it overnight with half a cup and some warm water and then wash it the next day.

Oxy Clean - add it in with the regular detergent. It gets out almost everything!

I swear by Oxy Clean Gel. I put it on the clothing as a pre-treater and then just wash with the regular wash. This prevented my DD's baby clothes from getting stained - even her formula soaked bibs!

It's going to sound so simple but a baby wipe...

DS gets something on his shirt, I grab a baby wipe right then and there, and rub like crazy. Obviously sometimes you need to use more than one wipe but man those things take everything out... and if it doesn't completely take it out it sets it well enough so that when I wash it later, it's fine.

I have never had something stain permanently! It's amazing.

...and a little unsettling like, what's in those things?! LOL!

I should also add that even if it happens when I'm not around and it dries -- I do the same thing, rub like crazy as much as I can and then wash it. Takes it right out.

ETA - if it is an oil-based stain I first soak up the oil by rubbing with a dry paper towel SALT - lots of SALT on it, that will soak up the oil and then bam! Baby wipe that sucker!

I have used dreft stain, shout free and shout. All are amazing! I've also started putting oxy clean in along with detergent. DDs ALWAYS get stuff on them. Strawberries, sauce, you name it. Everything comes out. I do their wash once a week and don't pre-treat anything. I just spray and rub the stains when doing their wash. The only thing that didn't come out was an orange ice pop on a white bathing suit last year.

I've used a combination of the Shout Spray and the Shout Gel Stick and it works AWESOME. It gets out most everything, even sauce. I also run the load with a soak and extra rinse cycle, I think that helps too. Chat Icon

I rub dish detergent (like liquid Palmolive or Dawn) on the stain, then wash as normal. Works great on oil-based stains, too.

The only thing that works for me is "Totally Awesome" spray cleaner. I found it at Dollar Tree. You can also find it at Rite Aide for $1.00.

I have been using All Free and Clear detergent and that stuff is amazing, I pre-treat with it and then wash. Sauce, chocolate, strawberries all come out no problem. I find with oil, you have to get to it right away, regardless of the brand you are using to get it out. My mom uses Lestoil though and that stuff gets even set in oil out!
