Best android tablet?
I am looking to buy a tablet for my birthday and right now I'm favoring the Asus Transformer or Toshiba Thrive. Anyone have any experience with either of these? Or something else that is better? I do not want an ipad. TIA.

I know the Samsung screen is great, but the Toshiba has an SD slot, HDMI, and a removable battery so you can replace it yourself. Does the Samsung have any slots?

I would personally wait for the Transformer Prime which is about to be released.
I have the original Transformer. The newer Galaxy Tab 2.0 is nice but mainly because of the screen they use (just like there phones)
Transformer supports optional docking keyboard, usb, micro sd and hdmi outputs. The optional docking keyboard give you an addtional of 12 hours of battery which is nice for long trips, etc..
Moto Xoom was a great idea but rushed.
Your tablet will all depend if you need 3G/4G coverage.

What is going to be the difference between the original Transformer and the Prime?

We have the Acer Iconia and have been very happy with it. We got them for $249 when Target had a huge deal going so we each got one. We've had them about 3-4 months and haven't had any problems.

Thank you!!!
I just ordered it. I was kicking myself for not ordering it through the Groupon but this is the same price (Groupon had shipping costs). This was no shipping and no tax. And I went through Upromise and got 1% back and my credit card gives a percentage back also (every little bit helps, right?) This was right in my price range. Thanks again!!!!

Happy to help...
You can't go wrong as long as its on-sale.
I also have a 1st gen Galaxy Tab (7 inch) which works perfect for the kid. I got that for 200 bucks refurb and it looked brand new.

Re: Best android tablet?
it really all comes down to what are you going to be using it for?
if you are going to be using it to:
1. display movies/pictures on a TV/projector... you would want an HDMI output...
2. storing hundreds of videos and photos? you will want extra storage on an SD card.
personally i do neither... i use it for web browsing, book reading, movie watching on the go... no need for HDMI, no need for SD card (16gb storage = LOTS of room)... lets face it.. its not going to replace your desktop home computer, or your digital camera, or your blueray player...

Re: Best android tablet?
Thank you everyone for your input - I did order the Toshiba Sunday night and it arrived today. I like the Samsung and the display is amazing (I have one of their phones) but couldn't justify spending $100 more for it - I'm on a budget! I will be using the ports on the Toshiba because I plan to put photos and videos ON the tablet from my desktop, video camera and digital camera, so I can bring it with me to show people my DS .
I think there are several that I would have been happy with (Toshiba, Samsung, Asus) and I just happen to have found the best deal on the Toshiba. Thanks again everyone for your help.
