Bernese breeder HELP
I hope someone out there can help me find my wonderful companion. I would like to get a bernese mountian dog puppy. However they have health issues and short life expectancy and i would like a breeder who can be trusted to have done the genetic testing and temperments with her dogs in attempts to breed a long living & healthy puppy. I will travel to CT, PA, NJ NY for this puppy if it is worth the drive. : (

Did you check the AKC website? They usually have a listing of reputable breeder there.

i did actually. Most are in PA and CT. I was hoping to find someone in Long Island. But i dont see that being a possibility. I was also hoping to speak with people who have baught from a local breeder and know that the dogs are in sound condition. Its just that this dog has such a short life span, 6-8yrs., I want to make sure i can eliminate as much hereditary bad genetics as possible. Thanks for your reply : )
