Bergen County, NJ
We are currently looking into moving to Jersey. Long Island is WAY too expensive. We have done our research and there are a few towns that are GREAT and in our price range. We've heard NJ is expensive but I it depends on where you are going and where you've been.
Anyway, from previous research we have seen a price for daycare but I can't seem to find that information anymore. Would anyone be willing to let me know what they pay in childcare? We would like a daycare facility, early drop off and late pick up. Would rather a facility than a at home, LO will be 3+ by the time we move so it's nursery school time. We're going to be looking in New Milford, Maywood, Dumont, and Westwood (possibly Waldwick).
Thank you! Also, any information (pros, cons) over those areas are appreciated as well!

Re: Bergen County, NJ
I live in PA now and work in NJ (Princeton area). My job has a Bright Horizons Daycare on campus. From newborn to K programs.
When DS started he was in the 4 yr old program and went through to K. I paid $1067 a month full time when he started and $1099 a month when he finished.
Newborns are the highest at over $1400 a month full time.
and this rate is "subsidized" by the Dow Jones company so if you were to come from outside in the community you would pay a higher rate.
Everything in the Princeton area is more $$.
I am not familiar with the areas you are looking at. I just know that Princeton is $$$. Kindecare tends to be less $$ than bright horizons chain in general.

That you SO much! This is very helpful! We currently pay $1290 for our 2.5 year old and was total it normally runs $1650 but we had a few specials provided where we worked and so on. By the time we move he will most like be 3.5/4 so those numbers are relieving to me!
Thank you again!

Re: Bergen County, NJ
I live in nj. Over all, gas for cars and homes is less expensive, but water, and sewer are more expensive. Food is similar. I would say 1200 to 1400 is an estiimated price for care, but check if your school district offers pre k for free. There may be a lottery, but it would be free. Most schools also offer before and after care. The thing to look out for, especially in bergen county is flooding. Make sure the houses are not in a flood plain. I am in Somerset County and am familiar with it, Morris and Hunderton counties.

I think for that age it would run you about $1200. The Learning Experience is a big chain in the area.
I'm really only familiar with Westwood and Waldwick. One thing to note though - if you are planning on using the train, the Main/Bergen Line (where Waldwick is) is a lot better than the Pascack Valley Line (Westwood).

Re: Bergen County, NJ
Just want to say I love Bergen County. I taught there and live a block away from Bergen county. I enjoy the shopping and "amenities" and then go back over to my hood.
My DH's aunt lives in Westwood, very nice town.
