I read an article that kinda makes sense.. He put out that interview how he isn't a homebody kinda guy, JG does it all, yada, yada..he got alot of flack for it...Now his movie Argo is up for awards and he is doing the "good dad"/"good husband" act now for the press to get votes...

I've always thought this. I understand that they are just kids and that being a celebrity doesn't mean you must dress your child in ridiculously expensive couture...but they always look sloppy to me. sweatpants and open toe shoes??
maybe it wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't for the fact that ben looks like he definitely took plenty of time getting himself ready in that outfit and coat.

they seem like a normal family!
my mom told me i had a dress i refused to take off when i was a kid and wore it everyday everywhere,at least they look clean..i must have stunk

Like, I get if a few times a week/month you let them dress themselves...individuality, blah, blah. But they NEVER look dressed. Does Jen or Ben ever say "No, you can't wear that...its winter and those are sandals.' or "I'm sorry, but you cannot wear pajamas to school." ?

They are KIDS!! they look absolutely fine. Why should they be held to fashion plate standards? The weather fluctuates wildly in CA, plus, Ben's getup is probably more for fashion's sake than dictated by weather restrictions.

i get it...but my son won't be walking out of the house with shorts and snow boots as long as i can help it the same way if i have a daughter she won't be wearing open toe sandals with sweatpants. wanna wear a tutu? sure, skulls, sure...but open toed sandals with sweatpants?  It's a crime...I just can't let it happen.

I do think little kids don't feel the cold the way adults do- I am always having that conversation with my daughter, who puts on shorts and t shirts when she gets home, while I'm in sweats/jeans, long sleeves and a sweater.
And while things are getting better, my kid usually looks like she's on her way to audition for Oliver Twist. As long as her clothes and body are clean I don't care what she wears. Even if people think we live in our car.

Love this family too, love the carefree look and they are such a typical family. I let my kids dress themselves one less battle in the am as long as they are not going to freeze or have body parts sticking out I let them do it.

I live in Southern California and they seem appropriately dressed to me. It's really not that cold here, In the 60's or 70's most days. I have one daughter who choses to bundle up while the other will only wear a tshirt. We also wear flip flops all year long. Walking anywhere around here you will see some in shorts and others in Winter jackets. Completely normal.

I will be checking Suri after I finish this post!
But I think it's great that the parents let the kids dress like normal children and not little celebrities, even if they do always look sloppy.

I may get a lot of criticism for this, but I feel that so long as the children look neat and presentable then it's fine. I feel that in their case, the parents are usually the ones that are well-dressed and stuff, but the kids look like they haphazardly put on whatever they picked up off the floor. For me, I don't care if I look a little bit of a mess, but DD will not (and I DO let her pick out her outfits sometimes so long as it's clean and looks okay to go out) and will need to be clean and look groomed because I was taught that how your kids look is part of a reflection on you as a parent.

some kids, especially girls, are very strong willed when it comes to clothes. My DD gets herself dressed in these get ups every am, and I stopped fighting it. She's getting herself dressed and she has enough clothes on for the weather- it's fine. She is expressing herself and feeling independent. She is obsessed with fancy nancy who loves to "accessorize".
Who cares what other kids are wearing, especially if you know they are loved, cared for and of course clean!

This makes a lot of sense then!
I love these kids! They look like the kids that I see walking around the grocery store or playing on my block...normal.

I think the kids look fine. I let my kids pick out their clothes, and as long as they are weather-appropriate, I don't fight them on it. Its not worth it. And yes, that might mean sandals with sweatpants.
