Bellmore and N. Bellmore..
DH and I just opened up our search to Bellmore. I know Bellmore has two school districts: Bellmore and N. Bellmore. I've heard good things about both.
I originally was told (by someone who came from the area) that any house north of Sunrise Highway goes to the N. Bellmore school district. However, I see homes listed on the MLS that are clearly north of Sunrise and they supposedly are in the Bellmore school district (not N. Bellmore).
Can someone clarify the borders for me? Thanks.

Re: Bellmore and N. Bellmore..
I live in N. Bellmore, and that's where my office is, so I've sell houses in S. Bellmore and N. Bellmore and know the area very well.
Sunrise is NOT the dividing line... it actually moves from time to time, but I believe Oak Avenue (off of Newbridge) is the current boundary, and I "think" the block might be split, so that the north side of the block is zoned for N. Bellmore and the south side is Bellmore.
Just as an overview, Bellmore elementary is on the Princeton Plan, so there are 3 schools divided up by grade (Reinhard, Winthrop, and Shore Rd.). N. Bellmore elementary is on a traditional, geographic school system -- there are 5 elementary schools, grades K-6.
For middle and high school (grades 7-12), both Bellmore and N. Bellmore are part of the Bellmore-Merrick Central district. Both Bellmore and N. Bellmore go to Grand Ave Middle School for 7th and 8th grade, and Bellmore goes to Kennedy High (with south Merrick) and N. Bellmore goes to Mepham.
Feel free to contact me with any questions, as I have professional AND personal experience in the area! I'd be happy to help you with your search, or just answer questions.

Thanks Christine! I see where Oak Street is on the map. Is the area south of Sunrise always in the Bellmore SD or does the dividing line ever go that far south? I'd like to choose one SD and not have to be moved...That way if we have a kid, they won't ever have to make new friends if the dividing line changes and affects us, KWIM?

It doesn't move that often ... south of sunrise, I would say you are safely in Bellmore SD!

The districts combine for middle school. So kids that will go to both Mepham and Kennedy will all go to Grand Avenue. So they will be able to make friends from both districts but then they get split up again for high school.
