Being Induced
I'm due tomorrow and at my internal on Friday my cervix has thinned out but I am only about a fingertip dilated. I think baby girl is comfortable and going nowhere fast. Dr said he will let me go a week past my due date and then will induce. Best case scenario of course is that I go into labor on my own.
What can I expect if I'm induced? As a fist time mom, I'm understandably nervous and want to know what to expect. I keep getting well meaning advice to go for long walks, vigorous bouncing(!) on yoga ball, etc. I don't think this is really the way I want to go into labor either.
Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Being Induced
Since your cervix is soft Dr will start by breaking your water & take it frkm there.if no progress then they will put you on Pitocin to get things moving. This is what happened to me. I got epi after 2.5 hrs of Pit contractions & then had my baby less then 2 hrs later.

Re: Being Induced
With my 1st I was also a fingertip dilated, was induced 5 days past due date with Pitocin first. Then the doctor broke my water, and after a total of 12 hours in labor, I gave birth to a beautiful boy.

Re: Being Induced
I was induced with my dd. I was given cervidil over night to soften my cervix (I was 50% effaced to start and 1cm dilated) then was given pitocin in the morning around 9am. I had my dd at 5:11 that day. It wasn't bad.

Being Induced
I was induced at 41w1d -- Cervadil first and later pitocin. They broke my water in between. The pitocin increased my contractions but considering DS wasn't descending, the contractions pressed on his cord and caused his heartrate to drop. After 24 hours, I was 6cm dilated. They said we could keep waiting or do a C-section. I was freaked by DS heart dropping so I agreed to the C section.

Re: Being Induced
I was induced at 40w3d due to low fluid. They used pitocin, which brought the contractions on relatively strong and fast and got an epi within 3.5 hours of the drip starting.
They broke my water manually and after 10 hours I was almost fully dialated, but decells started happening with every contraction, so they talked me into a c-section.
