Being a SAHM in this costly area
I started reading this book today from my local library:
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Miserly-Moms-Living-on-One-Income-in-a-Two-Income-Economy/Jonni-McCoy/e/9781888306149/?itm=2
I am not done reading it, but I am not totally convinced it's possible, or even wise, to live on one income in this area in order to be a SAHM. I am sure this is going to be something I will battle with and revisit constantly before and after arrives. If it wasn't for the cost of freakin' health insurance here, I think DH and I would have more options. He's self-employed though so depends on my insurance. Gah!!!
ETA: I know this is a personal choice for everyone/no judgement/just venting.

Re: Being a SAHM in this costly area
For us the cost of me being a SAHM is that we can not afford to buy a house on one salary. There is no way we could afford the expenses with a mortgage payment. So we will wait a few years to have a house, I don't think the baby will mind.

There is NO way we could live on DH's salary alone Besides, I make more than he does - almost double
We did toy with the idea of him staying home but decided against it
