Beds-Twin or Full

So we have a few years before the time comes for a big girl bed, but I was looking through a new PBKids catalogue and got to thinking. I always had a twin bed and so did my friends. The only person I knew with a full was my best friend who had shared a bed with her older sister until sis got married and moved out.

Now when I think of it, a full seems nice to be able to sleep next to DC if she/he is having a bad night.

What do you plan on doing? Twin or full (or maybe even queen)?

My DD will be getting a full...it is my bed, my parents had it custom made for me and its the only bed i have ever slept in, so Im going to pass it on to her.

i think its whichever you want really though...my brothers both has twin beds as well as pretty much everyone i know did...not sure why i got the double but i loved it growing up!!!

I had this same debate. Twin, trundle, full...We decided on a full size bed for E - more room for sleepovers and/or siblings.

I got a twin for my son. I just don't see a reason for bigger and gave me more room for furniture and toys. The furniture store salesperson did tell me more and more people are getting their kids full and/or that boys tend to get twins and girls full these days. He said girls because of sleepovers when they get older.

We got Julia a full size bed, I figured if she wanted me to sleep with her some nights it would be better, also I wouldn't have to end up getting her a bigger bed down the road as she got older. This is a pic of the bed she got....

Re: Beds-Twin or Full

my dd had a full--its good especially if they are restless---less likely to fall off the bed.

Re: Beds-Twin or Full

I've been wondering about this too. We're currently shopping for big girl furniture and I can't decide on size.

Most likely a twin. I never even thought of getting anything larger. Most likely, I will have 3 children at some point, therefore 2 will share a room and I don't think the rooms are big enough to accomodate 2 fulls.

We decided on a twin. We could've fit a full but I didn't want to crowd up his room.

Re: Beds-Twin or Full

As of now, no room for full. So it will be a twin. More room in his room to play even if we had the room for a full.

Re: Beds-Twin or Full

We're going to get DS a Full- for two reasons: (1) We co-sleep and I'm BFing. I plan to put the mattress on the floor in his room and start transitioning him to that. (I'll bring him to our room when he wakes.)
(2) My DH is very tall and slept in a full growing up. He (DH) wouldn't have been comfortable in a twin. If DS takes after his dad, he's going to be tall also and would be more comfortable in a full also.

Re: Beds-Twin or Full

When the time comes, DD will be getting a twin. Only one of the extra bedrooms can accomodate a full and there is no way that I would get a full for one child and not for the others (we are definitely planning on having more). That being said, we will probably get a trundle so it could accomodate sleepovers or if we have guests a couple could stay in there.

Re: Beds-Twin or Full

DS has the transitoinal crib, so he will have a full size when the time comes. I like that I can lay with him and he can have friends sleep over. Although I can't picture his little body in a big bed. Chat Icon
