Bed-wetting? HELP

DS is 4.5. When he was 3, he was fully potty-trained (both day and night). Around the time we started potty-training DD, he regressed and started wetting the bed at night. I thought it was a phase, but more than 6 months later, it's still going on. Every once and a while, he'll wake up dry, but most nights, he's wet. I feel like we've tried everything (short of buying a bed-wetting alarm). I'm getting SO tired of doing the extra laundry...I've been basically doing it every day. Does anybody have any experience with this? TIA Chat Icon

Re: Bed-wetting? HELP

Is he drinking too many liquids at night? Or in the last few hours before bedtime?
HAve you tried waking him before you go to bed to make him use the potty?
Those are my best suggestions. I know for Ava, she's such a deep sleeper that we HAVE to wake her because she will just pee herself and not even realize till morning.

Re: Bed-wetting? HELP

My DS is also a huge "deep sleeper" and there were times he'd wet the bed and sleep the whole night in it, not even realizing. It also seemed like a phase, since we went like 3 months with him doing it a lot, then he just stopped and hasn't had an issue. He was also trained before 3 and was night trained from the start as well.

What helped with us is making sure he went before bed (he goes to bed around 8). Then, before I went to bed (around 11 or 12), I would go in, and almost walk him to the bathroom in his sleep. Most times he went and was fast asleep again with no issues. Dream peeing Chat Icon

Thank you. He used to drink a cup right before bed time. When the bed-wetting started, we started backing it off. Now he gets one 2-3 hours before bed. Christopher's a deep sleeper too, so I definitely think that's a contributing factor.

Thank you for sharing. I think the main problem is that I usually go to bed at the same time as the kids. I work early in the AM, so we all just go to bed together pretty much. DH doesn't get home from work until about 3AM and by then it's usually too late. I guess I'm going to have to make an effort to wake up (maybe set my alarm) and take him "dream peeing" Chat Icon I had tried that back when it first started and it was unsuccessful, but maybe it's time to try again.

Re: Bed-wetting? HELP

The only thing that worked with Lea was waking her up every 2 hrs for almost a week ,and it really did work !Chat Icon

ETA: she was almost 5 also !

My other dd was doing this until 9yrs ,and I did the waking up thing with her at the same time ,and it worked for her also ! GL!

This is how I night-time potty-trained him originally. So, when he started wetting the bed, I tried this method again and it failed. At this point, I'm willing to give it another go! Thank you!
